    Post Hello

    Hello everyone,

I just registered here after a while at looking around the forum to see your creations. As a real-life cartographer, I kept on coming back here whenever I wanted to see astonishing works, but also some tutorials, tips and advice. I've always found that real-life cartography needs to me more based on aesthetics than just information as it mostly is nowadays, just like it was back when it was real "craftsmanship".
I won't be posting any map soon as I need a lot of practice to be able to create something coherent and nice

Anyway, thank you all for your work and take care!

Hi BB, and welcome to the forums. It's great to have a professional cartographer around, as I'm sure your thoughts and advice would be appreciated in many discussions. If you haven't looked through the Tutorials area of the forum yet, have a browse there, and you might find something to help you with your own map-making. Don't be shy about posting something that's a little rough around the edges. We've all been there!

Thanks, I already took a look at some tutorials but I will probably make a full tour, everything seems so interesting, I might spend hours trying all those new stuff !
I'll be glad to help as well even though I've much more to learn. I may post some things I did but nothing fancy I'm afraid

Welcome to the Guild BlindBlake! Hope to see some of your work soon, like what you said about real-life cartography too, something to aspire too.

    Hello !

    Welcome !

You can always post some of your "real" work ? After all, it's maps, isn't it ?

I can post some of the things I've made, but I do not own most of them (I know...) as I'm beginning as a cartographer and was mostly employee.
I've worked quite some time on the hydrogeological map of France at 1/1 000 000, here's a link to the largest picture I could find (Impossible to see the details, sorry :/ ). It was mostly a work on scientific accuracy :

There are also lots of unfinished personnal projects mostly due to my lack of motivation or technical abilities, but I'll post some of it (which I cunningly considered finished to keep some kind of mental health )
