    Default Ukiyo, The Floating World

"Roughly 300 years ago, a great calamity befell the world, though no one knows its true cause. The world tore itself asunder from the inside out, like a great newborn dragon unfurling and stretching for the first time. Vast amounts of magical energy poured from the world's core, it is said. The planet's shell was hurled out into the infinite blackness in large chunks as the sea boiled and evaporated.

The Veil of Mist consumed the remaining shards of dirt and rock that clung to the body of this great dragonling and those who were left were thrown into a panic. Some believed they had ascended to the Next Great Life while others thought it was a time of prophecized Undoing.

The magical energies eventually stabilized and the mists receded. The generation born into fog would now see the new world for the first time with their own eyes: a mass of floating earthen fragments held aloft by the magical energies radiating from the depths of the planet. Deep below their small landmasses, a tumultuous storm rages constantly, a constant reminder of the calamity's chaotic power."

This is my latest map, done for Greg's and my Patreon page. This one was requested by one of our patrons and was a lot of fun to work on.

As always, let me know your thoughts!

Whoa! That is a sweet map! I'd be curious to see more detailed maps of each region, as it appears from this that each segment only has a single city. Art style is great, has a nice comic book feel.

    Cheers!

Wonderful whimsy, I love it. I also really like that it embraces the trope of distinct lands in a fantasy world that each have their own particular terrain and climate.

    Beautiful!

    Cheers,

Superb! All of your maps are great, but this one really caught my attention. So clean and fantastic color choice!
