Planets, sweet! I love planets.
The last one reminds me a bit of the Death Star. Any parallels?
Its a WIP of a request a friend had. I am full filling that request. I still have around 5 more planets to go and asteroids.. And other things before I actually start putting the peices together in the map.
Barren planet.
Red barren planets: (two versions)
The sun:
Grii a communist planet:
Ryh A democratic City planet.
Ps: Thank you ascension for your wonderful tutorial that helped me get started!

Very nice star! I had a heck of a time creating a star for a recent project, but I needed it to be animated and in 3d, so a straight Photoshop job wouldn't be sufficient. You could probably still punch up its apparent brightness if you wanted:

I made a copy of the image and set it above the original with the Soft Light blending mode, then I used a Levels adjustment layer to gamma shift it and a Curves adjustment layer to push the highlights a bit more.
That Soft Light trick is handy to quickly increase the contrast and saturation of almost any image in a pleasant way. And if you blur the top layer just a bit, it can give a nice glamor to the whole thing.

@Quabbe Planets are good! Planets are fun!
@midgardsormr Thank you! Ill certainly go back and fix somethings!
Starting to work on this a bit again.
I've gotten all the planets done.. After doing the process for a bit its really simple and easy.. Even when fiddling.
Update:
Planet with fake water (Forgot technical name).
Barren Orange planet.
Ice Planet.
Fire Planet.
Purple planet of no description.
I also re-did the sun.. Not as good as midgardsormr's but.. Its okay I think.
Bright sun.
Dark sun.

Nice work! Your barren and ice planets look like they could have been lifted right out of EVE Online, actually.
As I consider these a bit more, the highlights look strange to me. It looks a bit like the planets are made out of plastic. I don't think a planet's atmosphere should probably have a specular component. Maybe if you set your highlight to overlay it would simply brighten up what's underneath instead of diffusing.
Also, the edges of your fire planet's thermosphere got cropped on the edges. It looks particularly strange on the left side, where you apparently rotated something after the crop occurred.

Yeah I noticed that.. I'll fix it when I start more work on the solar system.
Update:
Could anyone help me with something? Instead of the blue circles indicating the orbits I want planet trails to make it look better and hint at the orbit of it so it leaves assumptions and such. I've tried alot of things with no luck..
