sweet stuff all around!
flocko and ramseyhong's entries are great artwork, however the question arises, are they maps? (In fairness, the same might be levelled at my own entry.)
Vascant's mushroom garden gets a vote from me, the setting is very atmospheric. One criticism that I've only just now noticed is no horizontal scale. I'm envisioning the larger mushrooms as basically tree-sized (bigger than possible in reality, but this isn't a realistic setting), but am not sure if that's actually what Vascant was going for.
For my second vote, Troedel's entry is artistically excellent, but for some reason the design itself isn't drawing me. Map Vandal's is also good, but despite the "is it a map" question, I'm going with ramseyhong's air garden.
It's a shame Moe withdrew, and tilt and Candacis didn't get far on theirs.

Truly some nice pieces of work here
thanks for participating all, unfortunatly I ran out of time myself
a few comments:
cantab: fun idea - perhaps if you'd made it bigger and more gardenlike you'd getten my vote
flocko: cute idea, I would have liked it more mappy though
map vandal (voted for this): Beautiful as usual, but looks a lot like the entry from the shape contest. The buildings are a little blurry.
ramseyhong (voted for this): great idea and beautifully done
Troedel: Dark and brooding map, I think perhaps what didn't make me vote for it was the ground which makes it all a little noisy. Maybe if you'd made it even darker/more evil it would have stood out more
Vascant: nice idea, I would have like some more stuff in there I think
great work all

cantab: Yeah with each map I do learn something new or something I forgot/didn't think about. Thanks for bringing that up.
Vascant: So did I, between it hitting fall and the lack of mushrooms growing in the area combined with time it became a bit more limited then what I had desired. What can I say, sometimes less is more and sometimes less is just less. Thanks to both for the comments, indeed some good advice to take with me to the next challenge.
Voting is closed and congratulations to ramseyhong for winning - great job
