Wip December 2011 Entry - Minduriel and the Dragon

I'll take an unusual approach for this map, which is - I think- more an illustration with descriptions of places.
I read a book on Japanese history a few weeks ago which included a chapter on the various stages of Japanese art. Inspired by old Japanese paintings this map is a mixture of Japanese and Elvish elements (mainly the labels). The lines are a little bit thicker than in actual old paintings.

I see it's going to be tough and tougher to get something placed in this month's competition.

Inspired by old Japanese paintings you say? I'm not buying it! You meant 60s Japanese stop-animation movies, right? Go-ji-ra! Cool stuff, Sapiento.

    Thank you, mearrin and EP.
The outline is too heavy, yes. And the colours too strong.
For the dragon I used several images as inspiration and combined.

I toned down the colours and added some effects. The labels for hero, dragon and places are in Tengwar.
