Question [Challenge Idea] Create a Globe!

I have recently stumbled upon the G.Projector Software from teh Nasa, which also support projections to create a Globe. So my surgestion is to create a map which can be printed and glued together to a pretty globe.

    How you like this?

That's funny, I was also thinking of making a globe the other day, not as a challenge idea but just a personal project. So I might join this one, if I have time. II have no idea how a globe would be made from G.Projector, but maybe figuring that out would be part of the challenge?

The idea I had was to just paint the map by hand directly on something like a polystyrene ball, as Vorropohaiah suggested, and maybe sculpt some raised detail also. I haven't joined a challenge here before so I don't know how many restrictions there usually are, though.

Not that I have time, but I'd love to see a challenge gallery full of roundish objects spinning slowly in awesome glory.

Rather than a polystyrene ball, something like Isokinetics Inc.™ Anti-Burst Exercise Ball - Isokinetics Inc. might be a good base to make a globe. Add a little papier mache to smooth things out and then start drawing.

Or my personal favorite, a thrift store globe and a can of flat white paint. A little sanding would be needed to take out the earth terrain is present, but that's simple enough.

The topic of making physical globes come up once in a while.

I'd be interested in this. I don't know if it needs to go through G.Projector first though... what about just, 'make a globe'?

And I also have been wanting, for a long time, to find a regular earth globe and recreate it...

yeah i dont think g projector should be a requirment, though it'll sure save a lot of time using it i'll probablyu do this with or without the challenge, at least as a prototype for a final detailed globe
