    Post [Region 1][Map 23] - Thargellian Highlands

OK, here's my first go at Map Area 23...I'm actually pretty happy it. I have a name for it now - Thargellian Highlands, so if someone can please change the name of the thread I'd appreciate it.

I have some ideas about the inhabitants of the area, but that'll need a bit more work before I post anything.

I did have a bit of a rough go trying to figure out how to make use of the height map Redrobes provided. So pointers in that area would be most welcomed.

As always suggests, comments, etc. are encouraged.

Ah its up. Right, some height and contour maps then...

The contours are at 250ft intervals. As I might have said in other threads, don't think that you have to stick rigorously to these, they are a guide and all that matters is the 2D map with some continuity with neighbors. If you need anything else I might be able to provide then just ping away.

What software are you using? There are many different approaches you can take dealing with a height map: 3d modeling, gradient maps, bump maps, select by color, and even something as simple as using it as an overlay.

I'm using Photoshop, though I'm still pretty new to it.

I ended up using a combination of a lighting filter with an pattern overlay.

    Post Latest WIP

OK, here is my latest. I added a couple of rivers that I had not noticed were there before.

I also added some cities and fortresses.

    As always C&C is welcome.

Thanks guys... I'm kind of interested to see what happens with the tile above this one (#1, doesn't appear anyone is doing anything with it yet.
