    Default The World of Mereos

Something I've been working on and off of for the past year or more. Questionable how much I've really done but finally I've gotten the world finished. I've not the slightest clue how to make use of drawing programs nor do I really have precision capabilities when using a mouse so hand-drawn is what I've got. I realize they're probably hard to see but I'm not sure that I'm ready to go over it it pen yet.

The Western most edge of the world. (Not sure why it uploaded on its side it's supposed to be right-side up but what are you gonna do.)

I've updated on of the maps. And am to be putting features on it soon.

The center of focus in this world. Where all the action seems to be occurring. Intrigue, drama, plots.

And some unnamed, unexplored, unclaimed land covered in storms.

Then there is this area which I like the look of. But I'm just not sure whether or not to include it. Or where I would actually put it. And it was loosely based on this.

Okay well I've changed up this post now.

I've got the world finished, got the continents mapped out. And I've yet to actually add geographic features or landmarks. So this should be fun... considering I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing.

I like the shapes! Do you plan to digitalize, or keep working by hand? If the latter, I recommend that you get some better paper, but you probably planned that anyway

Thank you. And while I'd love to digitalize (it seems like it would make things a lot easier maybe) I simply don't know how and learning seems like it would take a while. So I'll probably be sticking with hand drawn. And yeah I was gonna go get something from the store one of these days once I feel like it's worthy of being a final product.

My early attempt at drawing mountains. And the second time I tried using a few different styles together. I think it looks pretty neato.

Oh and now here is my convincing woodland. Because it has the big tree in the middle.

And apparently the conifer one where you just do vertical lines is rocket science because I can't seem to make it work.

I work traditionally too, I'm probably the worst digital painter on this forum So it's good to have company!
I'd suggest sticking to one mountain style and one forest style when you do the final version, but of course, try everything you can think of first! For the conifer forests, try making little upside-down V's instead of single lines, and space them more irregularly, and use more colors, that's what I can think of.

Well I went ahead and ignored kind advice. Because I'm a teenager who knows best. I used two mountain styles for two different mountain ranges because one of the areas is supposed to look darker and that made it look darker to me at least. Along with the forests appearing to be more dense in that area.

And then I copied the forest style from the Mist Continent.

And ignoring the fact that I've only completed half of this this continent which is only 1 out of the 4 or 5 that I need to do. I still feel like I've made a lot of progress so I'm happy for that.

And added a few cities. The ones that matter. I think I'll just be adding the remainder of the geographic features such as the marsh and hills that I have planned and aside from that just calling it good and moving on.

And now it's complete so say I.

Started on the second continent now. Just some mountainous wasteland. A little more work done on the second continent.

    Also is this marsh-y enough?

So thanks to Llannagh I feel that I've made some improvements in my mountain-y areas.

Triple posting (really seems like a bad idea but who am I to listen to a gut feeling). This has been a "watch me as I go along" type thing anyway. Looks like my second continent is done now. Got some deserts and lakes and a forest and stuff. Can't really go wrong.
    Velhamira Complete.jpg

And then here's a picture of both continents together.
