Hi Descending Bear,
Welcome to the guild! Are most of your maps hand drawn? Curios to see your past and future work.
Darcy
Hello! I'm Caz, and I've been making up worlds and doodling maps for them for years, but I've only recently gotten serious about the mapping part. I was looking for map inspiration when I stumbled on this forum, and the work here is absolutely gorgeous -- I love the stuff people made for the tomb challenge.
I've played tabletop games on and off for a few years, and I've finally gotten into a dedicated gaming group, which is a heck of a lot of fun (I've now seriously endangered characters in three different systems!). I've started cooking up a campaign for my first stint as a GM, and I'd like to draw maps and things for it from scratch, so some practice is in order.
I usually draw character art and I'm not great at architectural drawing, so doing maps is an interesting challenge for me. I hope I'll learn a lot here

Thanks for the welcomes! Good to meet you guys.
Darcy, yeah, I draw my maps by hand. I love doing the lettering myself
As far as my actual maps go, I've thrown up a cheeky thread here: http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...ad.php?t=33240 I haven't shown those to anyone else yet, so I'm pretty excited to see what people think.
Hello Caz, Welcome to the Guild!
To get you started, there is a great tutorial in the sticky section of Tutorials, called
Quickstart Guide to Fantasy Mapping: http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=4276
From there, go to
Hand Drawn Mapping for the Artistically Challenged: http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...ad.php?t=10655
Once you have completed those two tutorials, you'll be well on your way!!
