It took me a few moments more than that which marks the point of embarrassment for me to get this. :p
The spiritual successor to my ward-whining entry "Everything" ( http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...ad.php?t=23770 ), we have here a picture of a map held by the last surviving member of a human expedition to the depths of the local dungeon a little bit after his last torch burned out:

The map is, as you can see, primarily composed of grunge brushes that obscure the actual map content, but give it that awesome vibe that all the froody cartographicalers strive for. And then placing it into an artistic composition just makes the whole thing pop and gives it the glow of authenticity!

Well frankly this is one of the best challenge entries I've ever seen. It's the way you've captured the anguish of the sole surviving explorer, and that palpable sense of rising tension. And your linework and colouring are unparalleled.
Extraordinary!

Have to concur with what's been said really! This map really gets that immersion into that world going.
The textures on those grunge brushes really do bring it to life though, what opacity did you use on them?![]()
If I could only ever make maps half as good as this one... We might as well skip the voting for this challenge, there is simply no point!

Wow what a hangover. My yacht captain said I needed to see this. While I can appreciate the artistic merit, I can't help but think you may have violated the terms of service and bypassed the 4.4mb upload limit. An investigation is now underway. There's no way you fit this much detail into that file size limit.

Truly a work of art!
It could be worth $15million!
I can't imagine what effort and time you put into this, it takes a lot of dedication to finish something like that, truly inspiring. That grunge work is amazing, it makes the map pop. Stunning artwork!
This really captures the intense horror that he must have felt when the torch went out... it almost makes me cry.
Are you sure this meets Vintyri's new standards for the guild?
The existential power of this piece is stunning.
Who would have thought one could achieve so much with so little. Powerful.
Infinity... oneness.. emptiness... darkness... a return to to the womb...
I may need to retire my pen and return to philosophy.
