So I've been working on my map making technique for a while now, so I thought I'd share the most recent products. These three maps were created with three different styles. The first one:

is based off of several different tutorials I've seen/read on youtube or from this forum before I joined. This was meant to be a proving ground for the combination of methods that I had found, and overall I think it worked in that regard, though there is still a lot about the map I'm not happy with. Since it was a proving ground this was a full world map (to 80*N and 80*S hence the 4x9 aspect ratio) The second one is really just an alternative approach to doing mountains that I saw, so I wanted to try it out to see what it looked like on it's own:

Since I was just testing the mountain structure here I didn't bother with a full world map and used a 1:1 size ratio as used by the tutorial author. I really like the mountains that this produced. Lastly comes the little map I made using Ascension's Style, converted to GIMP by Giddie that several of you helped me to track down.

Again since I was just experimenting with the techniques used in that tutorial I went with a smaller image. My next project will be to try and put all of the different techniques and styles together in a way that uses all the bits of each that I liked best, and makes the map look better (and preferably is fairly easy too.)

As always any tips, constructive criticism, or other advice is always welcome.
