Wip WIP looking for advice on deciduous/confierous transitional forest

I haven't seen any examples of how to do a mixed forest before, so I was kind of in the dark. How does it look? Please be harsh. (But ignore that the forest is too dark / oversaturated against the background at the moment, I'll will fix that.)

I seem to have it in my head that the conifers will tend to be in the middle with the broad leafed species on the fringes. The conifer canopy will be a lot taller and therefore the floor too shaded to sustain slower broad leafed growth. The broad leafed trees on the edges would protect the conifers from wind to a certain extent.

However this may also be because the mixed forests I have visited have all been managed.

    I think it's pretty good.

You can see how i did them in my WIP here, though i am not an expert, maybe you will find something that will help you maybe not

Here on the other hand is a masterpiece by Jon Roberts, you can see how he did the mix of two forests.

The picture seems a little bit blurry, but otherwise, it looks very well done.

I like it ! Maybe make the deciduous big patches near the transition zone smaller.

Oooh, that looks nice. Techniques for forests is something I've personally struggled with... honestly hadn't thought of doing a mixed one. Love it.

I redid the whole thing and I am much more satisfied with it. Additional critique/advice more than welcome.

Thanks, I incorporated this into my improved version.

Thanks. FYI It's 150% zoom. At 100% it looks a bit better, so let me know if it still looks blurry zoomed out a little.
