Have you. Considered gimp? I have never heard of clip studio and I doubt there are that many users here who use it. Gimp on the other hand it used by a decent number of forum users AND most of the PS tuts will have direct gimp equivalents
For the life of me, I can find zero resources as to how people would go about coloring fantasy maps using Clip Studio Pro. I am working off of a tutorial from Photoshop, but having no luck.
This is what I'm working off of: http://www.fantasticmaps.com/2015/02/how-to-draw-a-map/
I scanned in a sketch of a dungeon, and inked in some of the general details. I then tried to follow the tutorial but due to the difference in layout or tools (Still very new to the program so I don't know) I can't replicate, or even get close to the results in the tutorial. Its a major burnout factor as I could have finished this map on pen and paper by now. I want to work digitally but it seems like I won't have the tools necessary to produce the level of quality I want. Also, I can't justify the use of photoshop as I feel that a monthly subscription to a program is downright bonkers, especially for someone like myself that just enjoys making maps as a hobby. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated at this point as I am just about done with digital mapping since I can't find resources.
After 3 hours, this is the best replication I could come up with: https://i.gyazo.com/6fe80ed9b62632e2...f98731c6e2.png

...or Krita.
It seems to me that slowly a few users are moving to Krita and I've read that the controls and hotkeys in Gimp are less "standard" than both PS in Krita. (or, in other words, Photoshop set a standard and Krita follows it more closely)
And Krita is free open-source just like Gimp.
does Krita have layers and layer masks like PS? Does it have layer effects(which GIMP currently lacks?(but which I can mostly work around in GIMP anyway?)) Do you know both GIMP and Krita and if so, would you say that many tutorials made for PS are easier in one or the other? I can't remember for sure, but I seem to think I may have tried it out several years ago and the painting was really cool, but there were some layer management features I missed from GIMP(or could not find), so I just threw it back in the closet(again, it might have been a different software application built for "painting" and not Krita, I don't remember).

Krita's had a lot of development over the past few years, and I think it's likely come a long way since you last used it. There's a feature list here that hits some of the high spots...

To touch briefly on Pixie's comment about hotkeys in Gimp, I believe almost everything is configurable, and keyboard shortcuts can be changed within the Preferences area. Of course, that's not as quick and simple as 'out the box' functionality, but I don't necessarily consider that a drawback for Gimp.

Red - clip paint studio is also known as Manga Studio.
You might find more tutorials and vids searching for that instead.
I use Manga Studio, though mostly for drawing line work at the moment on some maps.
I haven't done up a full color piece in Manga Studio yet.
The tools are great and all, but yes.. it does take a bit of time to get used to where they all are and how that differs from something like Photoshop.
