Ah ... the memories. a bit of rep for old time's sake. Well done.
I've been playing D&D since I was about ten years old (more years than I care to count) and have always been a Greyhawk fan. The 1980 Greyhawk Gazetteer and 1983 boxed set contained two large foldout maps of Greyhawk's Flanaess that has come to be know as the "Darlene style" after the artist who created them. While not a "realistic" style of map, its intent was to give a viewer an overall sense of dominant terrain across a very large area, all of it presented in a manner convenient for gamers.
I've always loved those maps and always wanted to use that style for creating maps of my own world of Terrene, pieced together from various sketches and outlines I've drawn over the years. This map is the first such attempt, a full page-sized piece that will eventually be one of about 24 such maps, which when pieced together, form a much larger whole. It's not a complex style of map making, but it was a lot of fun to work on and I look forward to creating the rest of them. This map was created entirely within Photoshop. The labeling and a couple of other things may eventually be improved upon, but this map should reflect the general style of the original Darlene maps for Greyhawk.
On a sidenote, I'm pretty new to the site and this is my first map posting. I've done a number of others using Photoshop and CC3 and hope to post additional maps in the future.

Thank you, much appreciated!
This is great. I had the Greyhawk map up on my wall for years when I was a teenager, also eons ago. It makes me want to do my current project in the style, if I knew how to get it right.
Thank you! I still have my old boxed set with the maps and actually run a Greyhawk game on Fantasy Grounds. I still look at those maps regularly.
I've pondered writing up a tutorial on how I did this map, although I'm also not sure if anyone would use it. So when you say "get it right", what do you mean exactly? I can offer tips based on what I did if you like.

Yep, that does surely bring back some memories! Very authentic work there, RR!
Thank you, it was a lot of fun making it and brought back memories for me as well!
Simple and elegant, I like it.
Thank you very much! I look forward to all of the others I have planned, it's a fun process.
