    Default Carpal Tunnel, my experience

So, I just had Carpal tunnel release surgery on my right hand. I was scheduled for an endoscopic procedure with a 10% chance he'd have to open me up to fix the problem. Looks like I'm one in ten... He ended up having to open up my hand right above the wrist to resolve the problem. I'm typing one handed on my phone right now because the local anesthesia hasn't worn off and I can't feel my right hand hardly at all. It could be 3 or 4 more hours before I get sensation back and then the pain meds start.

I could be back to work tomorrow (software engineer) or Monday.

Prior to this surgery my fingers would go numb while driving, drawing, operating tools, etc. I would wake up in the middle of the night unable to feel my hand during some of the more flared up times. It was horrible.

So if anyone has any questions about my Carpal tunnel experience let me know. In the computer/art industry it's easy to get a repetitive stress condition so let this be a cautionary tale for you all.

Crikey fella! That's a bit of a blow, but hopefully it will sort out the problems you've just described. Out of curiosity did they give you any exercises to prevent repeats?

That sucks. my left hand had a truck engine fall on it from a meter or so and it severed nerves in the wrist. feels sleeping all the time now

    Feel better soon Robbie!
Years ago my mother had the full surgery on both hands. She did exceptionally well with minimal discomfort after the surgery and full recovery immediately after. I hope you do as well as she did.

Ouch! Hope it doesn't hurt too much, and fixes the problem for you.
