    Wip South Eporue Map

    Hello, I have started a new digital map. I got the shape from flipping part of Europe up-side down, which is quite obvious right now. Soon, I will change the shape a little, so it will not be so clear that it's a chunk of North Europe.

    For the name: "Eporue", I simply turned the word "Europe" backwards then added "South" in front. So, it went from "North Europe" to "South Eporue"

    P.s. I accidentally didn't save my progress on my last WIP "Vreonhaith", so I asked an admin to delete it. (thanks ChickPea!)

    LOL - you know, if you hadn't explained it I wouldn't have worked it out all that quickly. For some reason my mind was interpreting the black as the land mass, which makes it look more like a distorted map of America, with a walloping great Atlantis not far off the eastern coast

    Looking forward to seeing more...

    The black actually is landmass. The transparency is water: to the bottom left, is the Baltic Sea, and to the bottom right is the North Sea. That island to the right is England. Hahaha, I do see what you mean though: Denmark looks like Florida, and Finland looks like Mexico.

    What a weird coincidence!

    Last update for today. I added notes for the nations and mountains, and prepared a parchment background. I also fixed the maps resemblance to Europe, but kept the shape somewhat.

    There is still some Europe left in this map, however. When I named the nations, I used Google Translate to convert English into Scot Gaelic, and I got the names.

    Translations:
    An Fhraing = France.
    A'Ghearmail = Germany.
    Rioghachd = Kingdom (this is where England used to be ).
    Tuath = North.
    Lar = West.

    Next update: I applied the parchment to the land outline, then beveled the land. I also added shade along the coast, and made the mountains. Currently, rivers, forests, hills, (borders?), iconography, and typography still need to be added, along with many other small details.

    I am currently deciding on font and iconography, which will be added after the hills, rivers, and trees.

    That's looking great, LC

    I'm glad the labels are only temporary(?)

    The font is a bit large and doesn't really go with the 'parchment map' feel.

    I'm not very sure, but can anyone tell that these are forests?

    I thought I was on to something, but I don't know if this looks like forests to anyone else.

    Its too small to see clearly, but at this scale, sadly, I have to say no. I'm not really sure what it looks like, but IMHO its too contrasty and hard looking to be trees.

    All the nature has been drawn in. Now on to the city icons and typography!
