Welcome to the challenge!
Im back at making some more maps even though im short on time lately, so, I shall lay down a background.
The Island of Haraan (Replacing socotra, a small island in the Gulf of Aden just south to Yemen) Has been colonised hundreds of years ago by followers of the Nestorian sect of Christianity. Its population consists of 85% Bedouin 10% Ethiopians and 5% Somali people, while today the main religion on the Island is Islam, a minority of 27% still follows the faith of christ. Haraan is a home to no more then 122,000 People.
Recently(well not realy, 1912) The British empire took over Oman and Yemen including the small island. and now its under its protection. The island of Haraan has been used as an important post along the silk road and now umder the british, it hosts one of the biggest posts of the East India Company

So, I got some towns spread on the map, still not final, red marks the main roads built by the british and the black thin line will be the railroad

I really like were you're going with this, the colors and style are great.
Nice going, Hart
Have you thought about swapping the positions of the scale bar and the inset map, and making the inset map a little bigger?
Free parchments | Free seamless textures | Battle tiles / floor patterns | Room 1024 - textures for CC3 | GUILD CITY INDEX
No one is ever a failure until they give up trying
Thanks!
I did think about it but there is still a lot more to add, the locations might change
Really nice style
This is a really nice style you've got here Hart. I think that perhaps you have the km and miles the wrong way round on the map though. 8km ~ 5m.
