I like it. Definitely the display gets you that Sci-fi feel. There are still some fantasy/medieval elements — the shields with coats of arms. Is that usage part of your world culture?

I'm happy to present my first completed map here at the Guild. The WIP thread is here.
Used programs: Illustrator & Photoshop, with G.Projector & Fractal Terrains
This is a map of one of the regions of the world of Vanaheim, based on the realm from Norse mythology, which I originally used as a setting for a D&D campaign many years ago and then, more recently, a setting for a campaign of GURPS Transhuman Space.
I decided to give this map some dressing more indicative of a science fiction theme to reflect its most recent incarnation.
Comments always welcome!

That's your first completed map? Wow, that's pretty dang impressive. Nice work indeed. Dig the cool color scheme and the sci-fi effects are really nice as well. One to be proud of.

A cool and well thought out design. Kick-ass elevation in the landmass. The 'roughness' of the ocean are bothers me bit up close, but not enough to make make it even remotely bad. The sci-fi vibe is certainly strong with this one. Keep at it, I can't wait to see what you do next.
Thanks to all for the positive feedback and rep!
This map is the first in what I hope will be a series of all the various regions that make up the world. Not sure yet if it will be another along the sci-fi theme or something more traditional. However, I am very pleased with what came out of this effort, as I was trying to create something with a science fiction theme that still reflected the origins of the culture with some medieval elements.
The coats of arms were a bit of a last edition to the map, to give it a more medieval feel. I had to dig down deep into my Big Pile of Notes to find some flag ideas I had scribbled down at one point.
Great map and design Hawksguard, go on !
