Default Jan/Feb Lite Challenge: The Totem Spheres of Nascimento

As I was slowly working on a world map for one world I have been building I got an inspiration to highlight this Ancient Wonder of the World for the challenge.

Inspired by: Wuxia (an inspiration in most of my work), the writing of Gene Wolfe and a lot of post-singularity futurism. Also a drawing I don't know that was on the wall in the staircase in Moe's Books.

The world is a far-future world where technology is so advanced its invisible. The world is "skinned" in a combination of Chinese wuxia with South American and other motifs. Nanobot swarms co-exist with the natural atmosphere in a symbiotic fashion. Almost all humans have generations old nanobot systems in their body mostly dormant. Accessing the power of the nanobot systems is called mastering Qi and is like the martial arts masters in wuxia fiction.

The Totem Spheres are five giant spheres that sit on a mostly agricultural and isolated from world politics peninsula created during a previous generation's culture when then peninsula was more prominent (speculation from scholars). Each sphere is a different surface and they are progressively more difficult to scale using lightness skills*

    * Lightness Skill (轻功 qīnggōng) – often left untranslated as “Qinggong”. The ability to lighten the body and move with great agility & swiftness. At high proficiency, practitioners of this skill can run across water, leap to the top of trees, or even glide through the air.

A small but significant for me update.
Finally worked out a mountain I like that has the ambiance of what I am going for. I also have been drawing a lot of mini-trees to use for different projects as I am a tree aficionado. One goal for 2018 for me is to draw 999 different mini trees like this to use on maps. I haven't worked out the scale that is best and I probably will need to start coloring before I finalize that but I want to try to get my own single tree-forest style for this

    Completed: Mountain style, Tree styles

    To Do:
    Forest integration and composition
    River Depiction
    Background of the Spheres inset
Play around with depiction of the different spheres

    Question

I agree, lovely color palette. Mind if I ask what texture you used for your land? It really pops nicely.
