    Wip The Ravaged Reaches

Unfortunately I wans't able to finish my entry for January's Map Challenge in time. On the plus side, this gives me some wiggle room to make a couple of changes and additions that I wouldn't have been able to implement otherwise.

So here's the first post-challenge update. I've added shadows to all existing objects and worked in some fields around a few of the settlements.

Thank you! They are overall a bit less saturated than what I usually use so I'm happy they seem to please.

This map is so cool. Excited to watch you finish. really like all the fine work on the points of interest. Also cool is little details like how you have that second wave line on the Ocean. I have started researching currents and swells and I can just imagine some of those spots as awesome locations for where the big wave jet ski surfers would stay on your coastlines!

I love this, it reminds me of the Dying Earth series or Samurai Jack or Prophet. Always about far-future sci-fi or science fantasy

    Thanks guys!

Except for one I've added all locations I had in mind so far. Once that one's added I'll probably add a few more signs of the war over the map, then do the remaining coloration and shading.

Oh yes, I really like all the little added details

I know I already said the colours were unusual, and that I liked them, but what if... what if you reduced the saturation of those mountains just a very very very tiny bit?

They are almost overpowering all the little details - to me anyway.

(and this is where everyone shouts at me!)

Looks like this is shaping up to be something quite special - I really like the unusual colouration and the blood saturation on the mountains - sorry, Mouse.

Oh don't worry at all, MPG

I have what they call an 'atypical' brain, so I'm bound to have a few 'atypical' opinions now and then

Hey Sue, you know I value your opinion, so I tried a lower saturation on the mountain color layer (I lowered it by only ten points in Photoshop). I don't know... it somehow lacks something to me then. Reducing the saturation on the only element that kinda pops out makes the map look very same-y, in my opinion. But then my maps usually tend to err on the side of too much saturation.
