Woah! That's a very cool map! I love your mountain and town icons/drawings - fantastic. And great choice of font.
Welcome to the Guild and have some rep for diving in with a map!
Hi,
my name is Edzard and I just joined the Cartographers Guild.
First of all, english isn’t my mother tounge, so please be considerately.
I never thought that so much people are into fantasy cartography like me. I hope I can become a active part of this community.
Maps are to me like a living thing that pulls me into a different world. I need them to imagine the things inside.
I started playing The Dark Eye when I am about 14 or 15 yrs old. Quick my friends and me disapproved with the rules. So we did our own ‘laid-back’ variant and called it ‘The Thirteenth Hour.’
To us it was more about the Story and not about the rules.
Since then I drew a map according to our adventures. So the more we’re playing, the more towns and cities appearing to the map. It's about 20 years now.
I just started a new group with colleagues from my work. They became nosy when I talked about it. To make them imagine this world a little more I start to redraw the whole map.
I had higher demands on my work and still working on this.
I’m using different methods like drawing oldschool with pencils and ink pens. I also a draw on an Wacom Cintiq 13 HD. My favorite application for drawing is Photoshop (an old CS2 version) and Krita. For editing I prefer Corel Photopaint.
Actual I’m on work, but I will upload my current work shortly.
I hope I get some support for learning how to draw city maps, cause I’m really bad at it.
I'm looking forward to sharing experiences with you.
Best regards
Edzard

Thank you Diamond! Just look at your gallery - a sight for sore eyes!
Wonderdul work, Edzard! And I like the toned-down imaginative version of Aventuria. Who knows how it would have been designed today... =)
Repped! Best wishes and welcome to CG, -- Steffen
