    Wip The Isle of Fren

Hi Guys, just thought I would show you the land I am working on presently, The Isle of Fren. I bought a fantasy mapping book last week and it influenced this. Must admit didn't think that this could be as much fun as it actually is. I'm fascinated by the world creation possibilities and the many histories they help create. I'm LOVING it!! Many thanks to you all for the inspiration in the first place.

As per usual any constructive feedback, will be gatefully received.

    Hope you Like?

This looks good, Jeremy. I especially like the mountains.

Since you asked for constructive feedback, I think the main thing that jumps out at me is that the shields look all shiny and polished, but the map itself looks aged and textured. Also, some of the labels are a bit hard to read (eg City of Razali): did you do this in Photoshop? If so, you could put an outer glow or stroke on the labels to make them stand out against the background a bit more. Lastly, the linework is very dark and crisp. If you want to increase the sense that this is an aged map, you could try reducing the opacity of the linework - I usually put mine around 70%

Overall a very good map, though

Gotta agree with Wingshaw, this does look pretty good. Looks like some great line art, but, for me at least, it is being slightly overwhelmed by the coloring overlays. If you can ease back on the opacity there, that line art will have a better chance of showing it's pretty self off.

I spy with my little eye some Jared Blando influence!

The lineart and drawing style are excellent, I really enjoy those mountains. I'm personally not all that fond of the pattern on the ocean, as I think it doesn't quite go with the overall feel of the piece. Even so, I do like this a lot.

Many thanks everyone for your valued comments. I will go to work on these asap, I think most are achievable with a twerk, but agree totally with all your comments. Kelleri, you guessed right. Got this book last week and has open up a whole load of things to try out, so 'keep watching this space!' as they say.

Many thanks again, your comments are much appreciated.

It looks great. The lineart seems to be great, though the colour overlays make it hard to admire. Maybe lowering the opacity of those overlays a bit?
