    Map [MapForge] Cartography WIP

Hi Guild, its been a while since I posted here frequently but I never stoped doing maps. So well maybe this time around I will stick for a bit longer. Who knows?

Here are the first impressions of the 8 parts Maps of Continent of Lancireth, roughly inspired by Britania. I created some very rough sketches underneath and am now creating linework on another layer atop of it.

    Map Finalised Linework

The sketch took about 1 hour and now another 2 to properly render the outlines with a hard inking 4 pt brush with a slight 40% preassure sensitivity to allow variations in the linework, mainly in the flow of rounded shapes. The way I set up the linework brush is more or less the way I learned from Mike Schley. After looking for a while at J Edwards' maps for example this one https://www.deviantart.com/sirinkman/art/Adventure-Region-sections-1-5-774218312 I have discovered some flaw in my linework regarding rounded shapes and to allow cutting of caost line edges into the landmass, something I had never done before and which gives his maps a nice touch. Always good to see you, SK! Why not share some of the maps you did in between your last visit and now?! Or if there is a place you do post your maps now, can you link to it? I'd love to see what you have done in all that time!

As always, your new WIP looks very promising (I was always a fan of your different map styles). Looking forward to see where you go with this!

Wip I am back! And running crazy as always

Well, between 2012 and 2018 I have done around 300 commission maps (from which 100 are some weird smallish stuff for a computer game), thats an average of 50 Maps per year, from which I can barely show most
Some maps have been in devellopement hell of their publishers and never saw the light of publishing, on others I had to sign a NDA. So well I can still show a bunch. I will try to slowly update my stuff, here and elsewhere.

Oh and well, I amdrawing funky wave textures till my hand bleeds, now

    Wip Another Step closer

Ok, here is the next step in the process. It also shows my design decisions base on proportional dimensions on the single cut map sheets.

    Wip A Western Map

This is my new try at the "Caperpillar-Mountains" Style of maps used a lot in the 19th Century / Wild West Maps.

Here is the first rough sketch for the layout of the mountains.
