    Wip [WIP] World of Karrakys

Hi all. I am totally new to the mapping game but I wanted to start a WIP thread to get comments, tips, criticisms, etc. as I try to learn this process.

My first question is how do the base land masses look? Honestly, I've been working in this black and white image so long I'm having a hard time telling. I am thinking that the primary supercontinent is too triangular currently. Thoughts or ideas?

    Equirectangular:

    Poles:

Very Crude Idea of initial plates (once the landmasses are "done" then I'll start attempting to use GPlates):

    Legend:
    - Blue: a subduction zone
    - Red: rift
    - Green: transform fault
    - Purple: convergent boundary

Thank you all for looking and sharing anything you're willing to share.

The original thread wasn't so much a WIP thread especially since everything in FT3 went belly up and I had to start over, so I am trying a different route.

Any suggestions on making them more appealing?

Just for my own sanity, a view with an Earth layover for comparison.

My sugestion is to start with a shape you like or you will keep going back and foward with generated shapes.

    Some tweaks to the landmasses.

Ok, so I roughed-up the coasts a bit and got the image into Wilbur. I 'Think' I got the map info correct now, assuming that the Height ratings are in feet.

So the next step is to generate Fractal Noise for some basic heightmapping then modify it specifically for plate movement etc.?

    Help

Ok, so what am I doing wrong? I start with the following:
    Wilbur Select 1.PNG

Then I try to add Fractal Noise as follows:

Yet all I get is this washed out wavy noise:
