Default April 2019 Challenge: Villa Marina

I started this a couple of days ago but now I am unsure if I have time to finish before the end of the month. A big big Thank You goes out to Guilder "gogots", who posted the hand drawn looking bits I am using awhile back in the forums, and graciously allowed everyone to use them.

My apologies for not formatting the title properly. I forgot to put "April 2019 Challenge" and it looks like now I can't edit it.

It may be groundless, but your work reminds me mine "The Gulf"

I had not noticed the similarities until you pointed them out. I honestly had not even realized your map had a river; I only looked at the thumbnail of it on the page that collects all the entries together.

They're both very different. Just similar ideas I think. And I like both.
My new Deviant-thing. I finally caved.

    Edited your title, Tim.

I think this looks great, and while there are similarities to Sthenastia's, in the end it's all in the details, and yours are very different.

On a different note I love how you coloured the land and ocean. They blend so well together.

Happy to see you jumping in on the challenge with this splendid map.

    Cheers,
    Karl

    I think this looks great.

Another quick thing to point out on the similarity front: people (in real life) tend to make settlements in very similar circumstances, which leads to some
unavoidable similarities whenever it comes to city maps. Paris and London are both on big rivers, for good reason. Port cities do tend to happen where a river meets the ocean.

So while the underlying geography may be similar, that is life and humanity. What the two of you have done with that underlying geography is different and that is what truly matters.

Your rooftops are great! All of the individual shingles really give it a special feel.

I really like the watercolor feel you have in this. Nice almost dreamy look you've achieved.
