Map City of Terlis - Inspired by The Dungeon Run

The City of Terlis is Jeff Cannata's invention for the Caffeine TV table-top RPG stream called The Dungeon Run. This city map is really just a bit of fan art to help flesh out this narratively important city as it was described during episodes 7-10:

Very nice map! I'd love to see some more details on the plains and river shores, though.

Yeah, the river was a bit of an afterthought on this particular map. If I had to do it all over again, I would make the river go through the city instead of around it. Thanks for commenting!

This is beautiful. I love the clean, colourful approach; its really striking, and the buildings themselves are quite detailed too. I'm assuming it's done on a 30 degree isometric grid?

I'll have to second Ilanthar's comment - it's not the shape of the river so much, but just the fact that the water and grass are smooth, flat surfaces that don't really convey an organic feel. The grass could use use some detail, the water some waves, etc.
But other than that, the city is well laid out and I like the design of the buildings. It's a well-made map, nice work.

The entire map is modeled in SketchUp using an isometric camera view. I don't know the exact grid orientation, I just found a viewpoint that showcased the models the way I wanted and locked off the camera (digitally speaking).

Thank you for both the kind words and the constructive criticism! I agree that the water could use some lap-line detailing, but it was always my intention that the only texture in the picture would come from the paper texture in the background. It's a self imposed artistic limitation that I should probably hold to more loosely. The design intent was also very diagrammatic, so I wasn't too concerned about cultivating an organic look, but I think your criticisms are still quite valid. Thanks again for commenting!
