Fantasy Continent Map

Many months ago I started working on a world for an RPG game and the time has come that it might be helpful to have a real map for it. Someone gave me a rough sketch based that I generally like, but would like some tweaks and fleshing out for it.

It doesn't need to be amazingly fancy, but I have no idea how to even start and there is no real time limit on it. I am just uttterly hopeless at most fine art skills myself (and only passable on gross motor art) and was told to try looking here.
