    Wip “Unseen” universe skill tree

Unseen is a universe imagined by writer Scott Kelemen, with whom I have collaborated before for this map. He commissioned me this time to design a skill tree that will be part of his upcoming novel. Coincidentally, it's my first non-map-well-it's-kind-of-a-map-I-guess kind of project.

This part was wholly designed in Inkscape.

More texturing and improvements will happen, then I'll fill all the circles with symbols corresponding to each skill, such as these.

I hope you enjoy, and as always, I'm open to critiques and ideas!

I've come close to completing the work. Feedback is particularly appreciated at this stage! Here's a lookback on the earlier versions.

This is progressing swimmingly. I've always appreciated this type of art in RPG video games. This reminds me of the art from the skill trees of Diablo 2, especially.

Has the commissioner expressed any desire to alter how the perquisites alter the progression of the tree? Ever skill seems to branch off in exactly the same manner, and I think branching it a bit differently could help make it look more organic. I understand that each skill has statistics and desirable effects for the player to choose from, so that will factor in very heavily, but it's something to think about.

Thanks for your advice Adfor! As a matter of fact, the author liked my choices so much that I didn't have to review many aspects of the piece – to my own surprise. This is the final version, very much alike to the previous one.
