Howdy!

Here's my latest map - the Land of Intrigue in Mercator's transverse projection.

Format: 65x50 cm.
Technique: arcylic ink + a touch of photoshop.

I drew as usual for my players and sessions in D&D. I have prepared an English version in case you feel like using this map sometime. I am also planning a French version.

I've seen meridians like these in some other maps and it always leaves me wondering.

How do you manage to draw them in such a clean and precise manner ? Did you use photoshop to add them to your drawing, and if so, is there a specific tool you would recommend ?

I think I should explain how I dealt with the geographic coordinates.

At the beginning I prepared a map of the whole Toril in the equidistant cylindrical projection.
There are some sources on how to do this. An essential resource is "The Forgotten Realms Atlas" by Karen Wynn Fonstad and "Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting 3.0".

This will allow me to draw maps of any part of Faerun that are compatible with each other.

Then I imported this map into G.Projector.. G.Projector transforms an input map image into any of about 200 global and regional map projections. Longitude-latitude gridlines and continental outlines may be drawn on the map, and the resulting image may be saved to disk in GIF, JPEG, PDF, PNG, PS or TIFF form.

I decided to draw a regional map in Transverse Mercator projection. G. Projector did all the calculations and transformations. I first made a sketch in Photoshop.

Based on that, I drew a map.

Then, after the scan, I made olny a this coordinate grid in G.Projetor, export it and overlaid it on my drawing.

I recommend playing with G.Projector. It gives a lot of fun.

By the way, it is a useful tool for drawing good maps.
