    Info Hello

    Hi,

    I am interested in cartography as part of writing fantasy books. I enjoy writing, but have to admit that I am more gifted in the graphic arts.

    My favorite fantasy has to be Tolkien. I like his world and his languages. I have read the LotR trilogy + the Hobbit and the Silmarilion. I have also read other fantasy and sci-fi books.

    I have drawn a few maps by hand, including one for a friend's book, and am currently working through RobA's Using GIMP to Create an Artistic Regional RPG Map.

    I love open-source software. I use GIMP and Inkscape, but am more familiar with CorelDRAW and Xara Xtreme. I also have some experience with Illustrator.

    I would also like to let you all know that I am a Christian, and that my faith plays a big part in my life. I try to bring honor to my Lord by showing kindness to others, but can be a little hard headed at times.

    I hope to learn a lot through my memebership here and look forward to it.

    Welcome to the Guild! Our resident Xara user, Gamerprinter produces top quality maps and I think at one stage did a tutorial for Xara users, you'll have to do a search.
