    Default *** October 2023 Challenge: Map a Nightmare ***

It IS October, so what about a semi-Halloween-themed challenge? Your goal this month is to map a nightmare. This could be either a literal interpretation of a nightmare that you or somebody else has had, mapping its rooms or geography, or it could be a more liberal interpretation of a nightmare, like a political scenario, a post-apocalyptic landscape, etc.

This challenge will run through the end of the day (likely around 9PM US East Coast time) on Tuesday October 31st. The winner will get that oh-so-elusive Golden Compass, and because this is the last Challenge I'll be running, I'm also going to throw in a $15 Amazon gift card to the winner. In the event of a tie, we will have a run-off vote, and the winner of that vote will get the gift card, although all the tied winners (if there are any) get a Compass.

Please title your threads like so: October 2023 Challenge: <your title here>

Also please use the ### Latest WIP ### tag in front of any images of work in progress. Without this, the picture scraper won't pick up your entry and no one will see it when it comes time for voting.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and good luck everyone!

This sounds fun. I might give it a go. My first idea is to map rising sea levels, but I'll give it some thought.

Oh, nice theme! Dunno if I'll have time to do something for it but we'll see. I'll enjoy all the interpretations at least

"The Halls of the United States Congress" seems appropriate.

Hmm. I'll give it some thought and see if any inspiration takes hold of me. Why is this the last challenge you'll be running?

    1. I don't have time to consistently check in here anymore.
    2. I'd like to actually enter a challenge again here and there, and I didn't feel comfortable entering the ones I was running.

Oh, nothing super serious, just life. Working on several projects including a board game and an RPG, plus working a full time job, doesn't leave much room for other things. I've done exactly ONE map just for fun in the last six months.

    Makes sense.

I wouldn't judge you for entering your own competition since you are not the one who decides who wins; the voters are.
