    Post Looking for legend/key scrolls

Strangely, I can't seem to find any good scrollwork to put the keys on my maps on, and I suck at hand-drawing them. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm looking for something with the flavor of that scroll on the 'Old World Charm' map that Saithan posted, or something similar.

Well, I took a look at the scroll in question, and I can see why you're having trouble, heh. I think your best bet would be to look for something other than a scroll with similar edges and such and modify or adapt it. My brain's a little fogged, so I can't figure out exactly what's in my head to give me that idea, but I think it might be a curtain or ottoman or something.

Other than that, if I find some extra time this weekend or next week, I might play around with trying to make one. Haven't tried cloth or parchment, yet. Though your target looks a little more cloth-like to me, personally, if that helps you think of things to go search for.

Oh, I just meant that I wanted to find something in that vein, not necessarily the cloth-draped look, just something different than a boring old text/key box. But if you can make me a cool-looking one, you'll be my hero!

And finally, the design on the map you are referring to is known as a cartouche:

It took me ages to figure that one out on my own, heh.

Is there something on the site that defines all these map terms?
