Interesting.
Found this while surfing:

Has some links to "official rendered maps" but more interestingly contains a many maps of the text based adventure style (Interactive Fiction) (previously discussed by me) like this:

Interesting.
Dollhouse Syndrome = The temptation to turn a map into a picture, obscuring the goal of the image with the appeal of cute, or simply available, parts. Maps have clarity through simplification.

Ooh. That really makes me itch to make a Zork map.
I know these maps, and this game (Dragonrealms) very well...I played it for 7 years. Salius and I did maps way back in the beginning (1994ish) but his were nicer. The game got to be freakin huge with a few thousand people on at any one time and the inrush of punks and sleepwalkers (using programs to level up instead of do it themself) became very annoying but mostly because paladins had little recourse against thieves (paladins take a soul hit for fighting other players and it takes forever to fix that but thieves can steal you blind on a barge trip across a river). I've still got about 50 maps laying around in my desk drawer.
If the radiance of a thousand suns was to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...I am become Death, the Shatterer of worlds.
