Welcome aboard and have fun exploring.
I am Crim and I found my way here after finding the Photoshop Cartography #1 - Mountain brushes tutorial on youtube while searching for cartography photoshop brushes. My interest in cartography is threefold; I am a D&D DM for mostly 3.5, I role play via post-by-post forums and am currently constructing a new world that is in need of a map, and I am also an aspiring fantasy writer who may just need a good cartographer if she ever gets anything published and who better then the one who knows her worlds best Normally I do my mapping by hand but I'm wanting to get into doing them digitally hopefully to save time and achieve a cleaner look. In addition to Photoshop CS3 I've also got Campaign Cartographer and have been attempting to use it but decided to switch to photoshop simply because I feel more comfortable for it and I feel it will allow me much more freedom. Still haven't had a chance to look around... about to do that now actually

Thanks I must say this site and it's tutorials are absolutely amazing. After finding Pasis' Rising up the mountains photoshop tutorial and after doing some of my own thing I came up with this:
There are a few other tutorials I want to try as well before I tackle my world map and now I must hunt down some decent textures, but I'm definitely pleased with the results only a few hours being here has made and I look forward to showing off my work later
